Name:
Magdalene Amelia Brightman
Nickname(s):
Mag, Mags, Maggie, Blind Mag (she doesn't like this one at all...)
Age:
19-20 years old
Gender:
Female
Affiliation:
GeneCo
Personality:
Nothing can match Mag's compassion. She has a capacity to love greater than people think, and can hold a grudge to match. She would do anything for her daughter, even if she has to hold it a secret from the world. Her pain is also a match. She's got a lot of self-loathing and hurts deeply for what she's done, like abandoning her parents, taking her grandmother's eyes, and other such 'selfish-like' things.
Mag's usually a nice person. She's genial and kind and is a free spirit. But of course, she's not without her temper. She can control her anger in a way no one else can, and when she gets revenge, she gets hard and makes it count. Mag doesn't cut corners.

Background:
Magdalene was born in Sanitarium Island, to Alessandro Brightman--a GeneCo employee--and his wife, Marni Defoe--Blind Mag's estranged daughter. They were so pleased to find out they were going to have a baby, but part of that happiness was short lived. When the baby was born, she was born blind, just like her grandmother was. As a homage to the fallen soprano, she was named Magdalene. Everyone called her Maggie, or Mag, though. Growing up was a bit of a challenge for Maggie, being without sight though, but that didn't mean she was loved any less, actually she was loved more.
She didn't have many friends, but there were some who cared more to Mag than anyone. They had helped and supported her through everything. They treated her as an equal, though she couldn't see. Nothing mattered though. Through her childhood, she did everything they did--with their help, of course--and more. It was around the age of ten that she actually found her singing voice, and through her mother--who was an accomplished singer just as her mother was--she trained it and eventually got it up a perfect angelic voice within a few short years.
It wasn't until that she was a young teenager that she had become a bit selfish. Mag wanted to see the world like everyone else. She often wondered if her grandmother had these same thoughts. After all they were the same in almost everything--name, looks, voice, and vocal talents--why wouldn't she want eyesight? Mag had lived in darkness for her whole life. She wanted what was taken from her. And so, Mag went to GeneCo…
Through that, she signed the Devil's Bargain, making the same contract her own Grandmother did. The surgeons used Blind Mag's own eyes as well, recovered from that bloody scene, fixed and restored to their former glory. All they needed was a vassal, and that vassal soon became the woman's own flesh and blood, like the eyes had once been.

"Once again from the top Mag... the violins were a little flat...[/size]
"It's no trouble at all Sir," Magdalene replied to the bandleader in the orchestra pit. She gave a small smile as she heard the music start up again--sounding perfect. She counted herself the beats before she opened her lips, letting the angelic voice pour out the Italian words, echoing across the theatre. Her pale blue eyes looked around, seeing the familiar faces of the work hands and other performers stop their work to look up at her. This was her life, before and after sight. Music was the only thing she had fully in her life.
When it stopped, so did she, and everyone around her applauded with joy. Mag smiled and her eyes flashed iridescent and made a strange whirring sound. The memory was recorded and stored. Mag bowed, black hair coming over her shoulders, and hanging along with her head. Standing back up, the hair rested against her shoulders. A slight pink color had come to the ivory colored cheeks. She normally didn't feel embarrassed about things, but if it was a rehearsal and everyone was like this, she did get a little shy.
She looked back at the few behind the curtain and nodded at them, signaling that it was their turn. Mag was tired and she needed to get back to her apartment for some rest. It had been a long day and she just wanted to go home. Heading to the backstage area, she grabbed everything that was hers and headed back out. Mag stood for a few minutes watching the others, but they seemed to be way nervous with her around, and so she took her leave. She did want them to become better after all, but according to everyone, 'No one could ever become better than Magdalene "Blind Mag" Brightman'.
Walking along the red carpet of the aisle, Mag found herself in the lobby, now accompanied by her two chaperones, two young ladies, dressed in 18th century French clothing, complete with powdered wigs. Honestly, Mag didn't have them dressed this way. Sebastian did. "An opera singer should have liaisons that should match her style…" Well, it wasn't Mag's style--music-wise perhaps, but not clothing-wise… Mag's clothing were more towards the bondage look, a small private joke that played on her contract.
Outside was bleak and dreary, as was any other London day. Clicking her eyes, she looked around, and up at the Tower for a moment. Home was up there, and no doubt that her best friend would be waiting for her. But she looked down, figuring that a small adventure could be in store before she had to return.
